Since the last time we spoke, my country has been attacked. I honestly don't know how to explain what it does to you seeing your people being slaughtered in genocide. Focusing on anything remains a struggle because I am still securing our family in Ukraine. I know many of you wouldn't expect me to deliver another edition for now. But I'll do it nevertheless, as an act of defiance in the face of russia that, once again, is trying to erase and silence our voices. As an act of gratitude for all the support I got recently. And as an act of covering up my guilt, because if I were louder and more relentless in warning you all about this impending catastrophe in the last eight years, maybe it wouldn't have happened.

here is what’s in store for you this week:

  • The mother of all threads on russian colonialism has arrived.

  • Why are we barely aware of the decades of research on Russian colonialism in academia?

  • Why modern russia and Putin make so much more sense if you see it through a Russian colonialism lens;

  • Put this moving Roisin Murphy's #StandWithUkraine performance on the background while reading this.

Slava Ukraïni.

Let's go.
